Schools and programs
You can find information about schools by clicking on them in the list.
Students actually apply to programs at schools. Each school card also lists programs at that school.
Think of a program as a doorway to get into the school. Tap or click on programs to learn about them.
You can apply to multiple programs at a school, if you're interested in more than one. Some schools have programs that focus on certain interests or areas of study, and some schools have programs that reflect the whole school's offerings.
How to decide?
There are are a lot of programs, and a lot of information about each. For most families, a few factors are most important:
Many families consider the daily commute and the school's location to be important factors. Use the map to see a school's location and the distance from your child's home.
Use the filters below the search bar to see only schools that meet certain criteria. From More Filters, select the Eligible filter to only see schools you can list on your application!
Find information on criteria like academic performance, sports, and activities by selecting a school or program.
When you find a program you like, click the star to add it to your "favorite" list as a way to remember programs you're interested in — you're not applying to program yet.
Your chances of an offer
Want to better understand your child’s chances of getting an offer to each program? Hover or tap the icons next to each program name to learn about the program’s demand and find out your child’s priority group. These icons will not display if your child is not eligible for the program, or if the program is their guaranteed program. Click or tap on the program for more details.
Admissions Methods & Selection Criteria
Some programs admit students based on special tests, auditions, or other assessments. Others use academic records, language proficiency, or zone of residence. Some are lotteries. You can view the admissions method by clicking any program. For programs with assessments, we’ll work on scheduling any you’re interested in during the Scheduling step.
Programs with admissions methods that require an assessment list additional selection criteria that are important to consider, as well. View program details to consider these additional criteria. Try to save at least some Open programs.
Schools also prioritize applicants into groups, and make offers in priority order. For example, a school might prioritize students already at the school first, and then borough residents.
In addition to the priority groups, demand for seats available at the school contributes to your own likelihood of getting an offer to a program. Likelihood factors are shown for each program. Try to save at least a few programs with low demand and for which you’re in the first priority group. You’ll find filters that can help you pick some.
